I believe in pushing yourself to the limit and leaving it all on the field, regardless of your ability or vocation. I spent many years as a subpar athlete and the lesson of perseverance is something close to my heart. Today, most people would never know it took 3 years just to lift my right arm above my head or that I had to learn how to write left handed just to complete the 3rd and 4th grade. I was severely burned at the age of 8 in 1982 with burns and burn-related scarring covering over 65% of my body. Initially, I was told it would be extremely challenging to play physical sports again due to the scar tissue and nerve damage I suffered. As a result of the initial scarring, my right arm had become webbed to my side, physically preventing my arm from lifting higher than a 45 degree angle.
